I've enjoyed a lifelong commitment to exercise. Like most people, Ive suffered the aches and pains associated with the trial and error that accompany many, many attempts to vary my routines. What I discovered in Kathy and TRX training six years ago was a balanced, full-body exercise program designed to minimize injury and maximize impact. Little did I know that how much I would need her help.
I'm a hairdresser that depends on a full range of motion in my shoulders. I suffered a severe slip and fall in 2016 that tore my rotator cuff. Kathy tailored my exercise routine to avoid surgery. Eventually, I was found to have three tears and a separated bicep. Six weeks after surgery I was back to working with Kathy. I had not strength in my right shoulder.
I'm happy to report that Kathy's skill and the TRX training has been a critical enabler in getting me back to work. More important than exercise though are the mental benefits that I've enjoyed. I've built long-term friendships with my crew. Training is a critical stress reliever in my life. Finally, I feel good about myself. At 62 years old I feel as good (or maybe better) than I did at half my age.

"How Personal Training and Exercise Has Changed my Life"

About six months ago, I decided to make some changes in my life. I was 45 years old, overweight, a smoker, and I hadn't been inside a gym since high school. I suffered from chronic back pain and took prescription drugs 2 to 3 times a day to help cope with it. I own a pet grooming business in Dunedin called "The Paw Shop" and the demands of grooming takes a real toll on my back and body.
The new circuit training with the bosu ball is great. It helps keep my core muscles toned and tight. I like change in my workout routine and I think circuit training is the perfect solution. It keeps my body guessing and doesn't let it get used to the same old, same old. When I do the circuit, different parts of my body feel it each time. I think it also helps in my balance and technique, which help in my overall workout. I like change in my workout routine and I think circuit training is the perfect solution.
It's funny how all this has effected my personal life in such a positive way. Prior to this, I was on Vicodin and 800mg Motrin 2 to 3 times per day. Kathy has helped me strengthen my back muscles and now I'm not nearly in the pain I used to be. I take over the counter Motrin maybe a couple times a week. If not for Kathy's guidance, I couldn't have accomplished these changes in my life. I would like to thank her for all that she's done for me and for giving me the tools to take better care of myself. She's the best!

I have never exactly been physically inactive. I not only mow my lawn (every 4 days in July and August), and do all the outdoor weeding and trimming, but I single handedly maintain the home I live in plus 4 rental properties, including painting, light carpentry and everything except plumbing and electric.
However, it was not until I was recovering from a viral lung infection that the pulmonologist recommended enrollment in a cardio rehap program. As a result of this experience, I quickly realized that normal day to day activities are definitely not the same as structured exercise. From the rehab program, I graduated to a local gym, where I was fortunate to engage the services of Kathy Duncan, personal trainer, who taught me the proper exercises for women my age. This regimen was not strenous and immediately became a favorite part of life for an hour or so each week because it was so mentally and physically exhilarating. My entire body seemed to function more efficiently.
That was 3 years ago, so from personal experience I can say that structured exercise is the single most important and rewarding activity in which I have participated in my lifetime. Likewise, I certainly recommend it for any person who, regardless of age or physical ability, desires to be fit and/or maintain mobility.
